Description

The MaxiSYS MS906 MAX is the 10.1 inch tablet in Autel’s 906 family. If you have been weighing it against the MS906 Pro or the MS906S Pro, Autel UK have confirmed the diagnostic capability is the same across them. What the MAX gives you is a 1920 x 1200 screen big enough to read a live data graph on a driveway, and an extra USB port. Buy it for the screen and the port, not for a difference in what it can do on a vehicle.

What it does on the car

AUTO SCAN 2.0 reads every available module in one pass and gives you the fault picture before you have finished plugging in, which on a diagnostic charged by the hour is the difference between a profitable job and a long one. From there you get code read and erase, freeze frame, live data, and bi-directional control so you can actuate a component and watch it respond rather than guessing from a fault code.

Beyond fault finding it does ECU coding and adaptations, hidden feature activation, and over 40 maintenance routines, the ones that actually come up: oil and service resets, DPF regeneration, EPB retraction, steering angle calibration, throttle and injector work, battery registration. Autel test the coverage across 150 vehicle brands, US, Asian and European, 1996 onwards.

Reports go out as pre and post scans with one-touch sharing by QR code, print, SMS or email. Handing a customer evidence of what was wrong before you touched it, and what was clear after, ends the conversation about whether the work was needed.

DoIP and CAN FD, and the part most listings bury at the bottom

The MS906 MAX supports DoIP and CAN FD alongside more than thirty other protocols including ISO-13400, ISO-15765 and SAE-J1939. These are the protocols that get you into newer vehicles, including battery management on start/stop and hybrid systems, so for anyone working on recent cars this is the line that matters most on the page.

Access to DoIP and CAN FD depends on a current software subscription. The tool will not lock when a subscription lapses and it carries on doing everything it already knows, but the route into the newest vehicles goes with it. Budget for renewal as a running cost rather than treating it as optional. We would rather tell you that before you buy than after.

Secure gateway access is separate again, and no tool in the UK gives you blanket unblocked access. It is handled per manufacturer on tokens or a licence. We supply Nissan tokens, Renault jetons, the FCA licence and Mercedes unlocks, and can register them against your tool’s serial the same day you ring.

Buying it from us

Two years of software updates are included, where Autel’s standard elsewhere is one. The tool comes through the UK distribution hub with a UK serial number, a UK support tag and an EU support card, all registered to you, which also entitles you to Autel UK’s technical support on a UK number for the tool and its software. None of that applies to a grey import, and a parallel-imported unit cannot be brought back into the UK support scheme after the fact.
